The GRIZZLY Truck Cab Penetrometer represents a CPT cab integrated on a 4x4 or 6x6 truck, ballasted according to the desired reaction force (tests from 120 to 200kN). In addition, the trucks can be modified and the cabs manufactured according to the customer's specifications.
The standard truck make offered is MAN, model TGS (6x6), but other models can be considered and if desired supplied by the customer. As the CPT cab is pre-assembled, it can be installed locally at the customer's site with experienced operators if required.
The truck chassis is solidified by a robust frame (10mm steel sheets) which forms an additional stable and reinforced structure for the installation of the equipped cab. It incorporates the support beam for the penetrometer and the two support beams for the stabilisation cylinders, as well as the necessary weights for the reaction counterweight. For high quality corrosion protection, all components of the subframe are sandblasted and epoxy primed before final coating and painting.
All hydraulic components are mounted outside the cab, behind the driver's cab. This greatly reduces noise, heat and oil fumes. The GRIZZLY Truck Cab Penetrometer is equipped with an electronic engine control system and additional unit to manage the truck engine parameters from the cab. The unit also includes a latest generation PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), with HMI (Human Machine Interface) system: control via touch screen and joystick of all engine and hydraulic functions, including the various pressure sensors. This equipment and all its electronic components are integrated in a specific protective box. This box is incorporated into the ergonomic control panel installed in the cab. A simplified 'Tropicalised' configuration is also available for countries where harsh environments and conditions are a consideration.
