Now recognised as the most efficient drilling method, particularly in difficult terrain, sonic drilling uses the high frequency resonance energy generated by the sonic head, up to 150 vibrations per second (vertical oscillation of less than 10mm). The energy is thus diffused all along the drill string to the tool.
